Congressman Keith Self Recognized as Staunch Defender of the American Taxpayer, Earns “A” Rating from National Taxpayers Union

November 24, 2025

Congressman Keith Self (TX-03) earned an “A” rating from the National Taxpayers Union (NTU) in its latest NTU Rates Congress report, placing Congressman Self among the top lawmakers in Congress working to protect taxpayers and spend dollars responsibly.

As a result of this score, Rep. Self was awarded the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” by the National Taxpayers Union.

“The American people deserve a government that uses their dollars wisely, limits waste, and supports economic opportunity through limited regulation,” Congressman Self said. “I will continue working to make sure Washington delivers that kind of stewardship.”

The NTU Rates Congress scorecard is the nation’s most comprehensive, nonpartisan analysis of federal tax and spending votes. In this report, the policy experts at NTU evaluated 39 Senate votes and 130 House votes, assigning greater weight to those with the largest long-term effects on federal taxes, spending, debt, and regulation.

“If we had a hundred more members like Congressman Self in Congress, the nation would be on a much more prosperous and solid financial footing,” National Taxpayers Union Executive Vice President Brandon Arnold said. “We’re grateful to Congressman Self for always putting taxpayers first when voting.”

According to NTU, members who earn an “A” rating consistently vote to:

•    Reduce wasteful or excessive federal spending
•    Oppose tax increases
•    Limit regulatory burdens that hinder economic growth

Only 20 out of the 535 members of Congress earned an “A” grade.
