Congressman Keith Self Supports Governor Greg Abbott’s Border Security Efforts

Congressman Keith Self led a letter, along with 23 House Republican Members, in support of Governor Greg Abbott’s efforts to secure the border. In their letter, Members of Congress encouraged Governor Abbot you to continue defending Texas’ sovereignty by holding the line against the Biden administration’s lawless border policies.

The letter goes on to state that “Article 4, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution guarantees that states would be protected from a Federal Government that would defy the law and force a state to endure a foreign invasion.”

“I appreciate Governor Abbott’s resolve and know he will do what is in the best interest of Texas,” Congressman Keith Self said. “As Governor Abbott uses the resources and constitutional authority at his disposal to enforce border security, I believe the American people will continue standing with Texas, and against this foreign invasion.”

Since Biden took office, more than 8.7 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border. On average, more than 5,000 illegal immigrants are being released into the United States every single day. During his first 100 days, President Biden stopped construction of the border wall and ended President Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” Policy.

“Conservatives in Congress stand in solidarity with Governor Abbott,” Congressman Self said. “It is imperative that border states step into the gap to stop the invasion on our southern border, and Constitutionally, they have the right to do so.”
